Residents in Watford, Hertfordshire, are expected to see a significant rise in temperatures this weekend as a milder air mass moves into the region starting Friday, February 20, 2026, following a cold and wet midweek spell.
According to the Met Office, daytime temperatures will climb to between 11°C and 13°C through the weekend. This is a notable increase from the 5°C highs and strong wind gusts of 34mph experienced on Wednesday.
These milder conditions are caused by Atlantic weather systems tracking across the country and bringing a flow of warmer air from the North Atlantic. The expected high of 13°C is approximately 6°C warmer than the typical February average for the area.
The warmer weather arrives as Watford FC prepares to play a home match against Derby County at Vicarage Road on Saturday, February 21, 2026. While the rise in temperature offers more comfort for outdoor activities, some light rain and windy intervals remain possible throughout the weekend.
Recent wet weather had previously led to flood alerts from the Environment Agency for the River Colne. This period of milder air is expected to continue through late February, keeping local temperatures near or above the seasonal average.
