Residents in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, have until midnight on February 28, 2026, to buy discounted tickets for the town’s major international walking festival. The 45th International Waendel Walk is set to take place from Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Organised by Wellingborough Town Council, the three-day event is the only walking festival in the United Kingdom recognised by the IML Walking Association. The festival draws thousands of local and international visitors to the area each year to explore the local countryside.
All walks will start and finish at the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough. Participants can choose from several different routes, including a 5km inclusive walk and a challenging 42km route, as well as a 25km road route that was added to the event recently.
The event also helps support local charities and encourages businesses to provide hospitality for visitors coming from outside the town. Members of the Waendel Walkers Club also assist with the festival by helping to plan the routes and providing volunteers for the weekend.
