The route utilises existing town cycle paths and footways, guiding participants through scenic green spaces. Starting and finishing at the Castle Theatre, the addition aims to remove barriers that have historically made it difficult for some community members to enjoy local walking events. The weekend also features a range of other distances, including a 42km marathon-distance option, alongside 5km, 15km, and 25km routes.
As the only International Marathon Walking Association event in the United Kingdom, the walk remains a significant fixture in the local calendar. Councillor Paul Bell, leader of the town council, described the weekend as a major highlight for the community and an opportunity to welcome visitors to Wellingborough. Additionally, The Lewis Foundation will host a charity walk on 9 May to mark its 10th anniversary.
Those wishing to participate must purchase tickets by midnight on 6 May to register online. For those who miss the online deadline, in-person tickets will be available at the Castle Theatre from 12pm on Friday 8 May. Camping options remain available for attendees through 11 May.
