Residents in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, can now use a new online tool launched by the Northamptonshire Football Association (Northamptonshire FA) in January 2026 to find local football teams, disability sessions and coaching opportunities in their neighbourhood.

The interactive map, a county-level iteration of The FA’s national ‘Find Football’ framework, lets users filter results by postcode, age group, gender and specific needs (including Disability/Para-football). The NFA says the tool will make it easier for para-athletes and others to find tailored sessions that were previously harder to locate.

Large housing developments around Wellingborough — notably Stanton Cross (about 3,650 homes) and the Wellingborough North/Glenvale Park allocation — are bringing thousands of new households to the area. The tool is intended to help those new residents find established teams and sessions in their locality.

Local clubs such as Wellingborough Town FC are included in the portal. The site provides contact routes (including club contact forms and links to Club Welfare Officers) to help simplify the sign-up process. The portal is also linked to county-level volunteering and refereeing information to help clubs recruit officials and coaches as player numbers grow.

Organisers hope the move will strengthen the local sports scene by ensuring residents are only a few clicks away from a local pitch or community hub. Beyond finding a match, the tool is designed to help neighbours connect and rebuild social ties through grassroots sport.
