A new free English conversation course for beginners is starting at the Welwyn Garden City Central Library in Hertfordshire to help residents build confidence in their everyday speaking skills. The program is run by Step2Skills and begins on March 2, 2026.

The sessions will take place every Monday and Wednesday from 12:00 to 14:30 for a two-week period. These practical classes are designed for new arrivals, parents, and adult learners who want to improve their communication and find better work opportunities without extra travel costs.

While the course is free for eligible residents, everyone who wants to attend must book a place in advance to ensure they have a spot. Interested residents can register through the Webenrol booking system or by visiting the official Step2Skills website.

According to the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council directory, this course is part of a local effort to provide accessible education in community hubs. In 2025, the service joined Hertfordshire Futures to better align adult learning with the economic needs of the county.

This initiative focuses on helping people learn English and maths to help them take the next step in their careers. By hosting the lessons at the central library hub, the organisers aim to create a supportive environment for all participants.
