Gosling Sports Park in Welwyn Garden City is throwing open its doors for a free Open Weekend on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July, offering residents the chance to try its full range of facilities without charge. The Better-operated centre will provide complimentary access to the gym, fitness classes, trampoline park, golf driving range, tennis courts, and gymnastics hall across both days.

Visitors on Saturday can join master classes covering cardio, dance, and mind and body fitness, with sessions running from 9am through to midday. Toddler Bounce takes place from 10am to 11am, while junior gymnastics runs from 2pm to 4pm. The gym opens to all from 11am until 4pm, and a senior badminton drop-in slot is available from 9am. Sunday’s timetable includes a cardio master class at 9:30am, strength and conditioning at 10:30am, and further mind and body sessions, alongside Fun Rings from midday. The Trackman golf simulator runs closest-to-the-pin challenges on Saturday and a tournament on Sunday, both between 1pm and 3pm. Family entertainment features the centre’s mascot and face painting throughout the weekend.

Anyone without a membership can register a free account via the Better UK app or website and then book open-day activities, agreeing to a signed waiver as part of the process. The centre, operated by charitable social enterprise GLL in partnership with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, is located on Stanborough Road. Established in 1959 on a fifty-acre site, it remains one of the area’s largest sports complexes and also houses a swimming pool, ski slope, velodrome, and athletics track.
