Young women in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, are being invited to explore career opportunities in technology during a special event hosted by Next Tech Girls and Tesco on 26 March 2026. The Innovation Insight Day is designed for those aged 16 to 21 who want to learn how a major retailer uses digital tools to run its business.
During the visit, participants will meet female professionals working in areas like engineering and design to hear about their daily work. The day includes a tour of the supermarket’s innovation labs and a practical session where attendees will work together to solve a challenge related to sustainability.
The programme has a history of helping young people enter the industry, with some past attendees later securing permanent jobs as software engineers at the company. Organisers say the event is intended to show that working in technology involves a wide range of skills beyond just writing computer code.
Applications for the event are currently open but must be submitted by 11:59pm on Thursday 12 March 2026. This project is part of an ongoing effort to make the technology sector more accessible to the next generation of workers in the local community.
