The City of Wolverhampton College launched a new “AI Kickstart” workshop series in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, on 2 February 2026 to help local business owners use artificial intelligence to improve their daily work. The first sessions are being hosted at the college’s new City Learning Quarter city-centre campus, which opened in late 2025.

These one-day sessions are being held at the City Learning Quarter and are designed to help entrepreneurs understand new technology without needing to learn computer programming. The training is free for qualifying local businesses because it is funded as part of the West Midlands Combined Authority’s £10 million AI skills strategy, which backs regionwide AI training and an AI Academy.

Richard Hewitt, Assistant Principal – Business and Growth at the college, said the programme aims to demystify AI and show small business owners how to use existing tools to save time and work more efficiently. The initiative is part of a wider effort by regional leaders to train residents in basic digital skills as the local economy changes.

The workshops are set to run every two weeks through June 2026 at both the City Learning Quarter city-centre hub and the Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre at the Wellington Road campus. Participants will learn how to use automated tools for their operations while also picking up tips on how to keep their business information secure.
