The A41 Bilston Road in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, was closed in both directions on February 12, 2026, after a drainage gully collapsed in the street.

According to Transport for West Midlands, the closure is located between Cleveland Road and Ettingshall Road. Only people who need to get to homes or businesses in that specific area are being allowed through, while all other traffic is being diverted.

Drivers and bus passengers should prepare for diversions and longer journeys while the road remains shut. This failure happened just one day after a separate sinkhole opened on nearby All Saints Road, which is part of an area where the City of Wolverhampton Council is currently working on a major road repair programme.

Engineers are currently assessing the structural stability of the road to determine the cause of the collapse and the extent of the damage. The route will remain closed until further notice while these safety checks and necessary repairs are completed.
