The City of Wolverhampton Council has expanded its public health initiatives in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, offering free blood pressure checks in people’s homes and local community spots as of March 2026. The programme aims to make it easier for residents to monitor their heart health and identify potential issues early, without the immediate need for a clinical appointment.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, described high blood pressure as a “silent killer.” According to the council, one-third of people with the condition do not know they have it, making regular testing a priority for the community.

Wolverhampton has an established history of providing these health tools, with health kiosks already available in libraries and other public buildings. Residents can also borrow monitors for use at home to keep an eye on their health through the health monitoring services.

The council is working alongside NHS partners and its healthy lifestyles team to deliver the initiative. By integrating health checks into the community, officials hope to encourage proactive health management and reduce long-term pressure on local hospitals and clinics.
