Residents in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, are being told to prepare for a sudden change in weather as heavy rain and strong winds are set to arrive on Tuesday 24 March 2026. The Met Office has warned that the recent sunny conditions will be replaced by a significant cold snap that could bring sleet to the city.

The weather shift begins on Tuesday with heavy rain and wind gusts reaching up to 35mph. This turn in conditions follows a period of unseasonably warm weather across the country last week, but temperatures in the local area are now expected to fall well below the March average.

Wednesday 25 March 2026 is expected to be the coldest day of the week, with daytime temperatures reaching a high of just 7°C. Stronger winds of up to 41mph will make the air feel as cold as -3°C, and there is an 80 per cent chance of sleet showers during the early morning.

Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick warned that some showers could be heavy with hail and thunder. The West Midlands regional forecast suggests these showers may turn to snow over higher ground, though conditions should become drier and brighter by Thursday 26 March 2026.
