A new self-guided walking trail — the Bilston Heritage Trail — will be launched on Saturday 14 February 2026. Created by the Bilston Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Treasure Trails (with support from the City of Wolverhampton Council), the trail is designed to celebrate Bilston’s local history and encourage residents and visitors to explore the town centre and support local shops and cafes. The launch event will take place at Bilston Town Hall (Church Street) on Saturday, 14 February (the venue lists the event at 2:00pm).

The trail uses a series of puzzles and stories to highlight the town’s industrial past, including Bilston’s famous enamel work and steel-making. Participants can follow the route using a physical map — available from the Town Hall and participating local shops — or via the Treasure Trails mobile app, locating clues around the High Street and market area.

Organisers say the attraction is intended to help keep the town centre busy while major works continue on the Bilston Market redevelopment, which has been delayed and is now expected to finish in June 2026. The launch is being promoted as part of the wider regeneration effort for the town.

The event also comes as Bilston BID faces a re-ballot for a third five-year term (2026–2031) in February 2026 and amid organised opposition from the Against Bilston BID Alliance (ABBA). BID spokespeople describe projects such as the heritage trail as visible examples of the BID’s work to increase footfall and town vitality.

Maps and further details will be available at the launch; journalists should check with Bilston BID or Bilston Town Hall for confirmation of the event time and whether there is any fee to participate in the trail.
