Two young boys, aged one and three, have died following a house fire on Mason Street in Wolverhampton on the evening of Friday 24 April 2026. Emergency services were called to the property at approximately 8.30pm.
Crews from West Midlands Fire Service stations in Bilston, West Bromwich, and Bloxwich arrived within five minutes of the call. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the home and rescued the two children. Despite advanced life support efforts from West Midlands Ambulance Service medics, both boys were pronounced dead at the scene. Resources deployed by the ambulance service included two ambulances, three paramedic officers, hazardous area response team paramedics, and a trauma team alongside a critical care car from the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
Two other children and a woman were already outside the property when emergency services arrived. They were assessed by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment. A woman in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of two children but has since been released on police bail as investigations continue.
The site remains cordoned off while forensic officers conduct their enquiries into the extensively damaged property. Authorities have thanked the local community for their patience and support during this investigation.
