A West Midlands Police officer has been charged with assault and the misuse of a harmful spray following an arrest in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, as part of an investigation into the use of force. PC Brandon Harrison faces several charges after an incident on 16 August 2025 where he is accused of using too much force while taking a man into custody.
The officer faces one count of actual bodily harm and a second charge for administering a harmful substance, known as an incapacitant spray. He is also accused of breaking the Computer Misuse Act 1990 by reportedly recording footage from a police body camera onto his own mobile phone without a valid work reason.
According to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, the officer is accused of punching the man in the head during the arrest. He is also alleged to have later sprayed the man in the face at close range while the man was held and restrained in a police cell.
The investigation began after the West Midlands Police referred the matter to the watchdog in September 2025. PC Harrison is set to appear for his first hearing at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on 16 March 2026.
