Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed to sell defender Emmanuel Agbadou to Turkish side Beşiktaş for a package worth roughly £17.5 million. The move, originating in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, comes after the 28‑year‑old spent just over a year with the club — he joined Wolves on 9 January 2025.

Wolves manager Rob Edwards confirmed the move at a press conference on 6 February 2026, saying Agbadou had travelled to Turkey to complete the paperwork and that “we wish him the best, but this move was the right step for all parties.”

The transfer is reported to comprise an initial €18 million (about £15.5m) plus €2m (around £2m) in performance‑related add‑ons, taking the total to about €20m (roughly £17.5m). Football Insider and other outlets note that the package largely recoups what Wolves paid to sign him from Stade de Reims in January 2025 (reported fee ~£16.6m).

Agbadou joined Wolves on 9 January 2025 but struggled to secure a regular starting place. He made 35 appearances in total for Wolves, and reports say he managed only two Premier League starts this season under Rob Edwards.

The sale comes as the club prepares for a congested run of fixtures, which will reduce options for the defensive line. Local analysts at Birmingham World say the move helps the club manage its finances while focusing on players who better fit the current system.
