The Magical Night Market is returning to York this May half-term, offering families an evening of entertainment at the historic Shambles Market. The event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 25 May 2026, from 7:30pm to 10pm.

Organised by Make It York, the city’s tourism and events organisation, the night market is part of WizardFest 2026. This city-wide festival celebrating wizardry and family activities runs from 23 May to 25 May 2026 and is led by the Wizard Walk of York.

Visitors to the market can explore stalls from local traders while enjoying a family-friendly, alcohol-free atmosphere. The evening will feature fairy lights, street food, performances, and a 360 camera experience. More than 30 local traders are expected to showcase handcrafted gifts and unique crafts, building on the success of the inaugural event held last year.

Shambles Market is located at 5 Silver Street and serves as the primary hub for independent traders in the city, with over 75 stalls operating throughout the week. The upcoming festival is supported by a range of local businesses.

The event is designed to encourage families to visit the city centre and support local independent shops as the school holiday period begins. Following a successful first year, organisers are inviting residents and visitors to participate in this celebration of local culture and community spirit.
