Families in York and Haxby, North Yorkshire, can take part in two free sculpture trails called Discover: Eggsplore between 28 March and 12 April 2026. According to Visit York, the project encourages people to visit local high streets and find handcrafted ceramic eggs hidden inside various independent shops and venues.
The trail features sculptures based on designs created by local children aged 0-11. These designs were brought to life by Sarah Schiewe of Schiewe Ceramics, which is the local business leading the project.
This initiative is funded by the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire’s High Street Fund. The project aims to support local businesses by bringing more visitors to independent shops during the Easter school holidays.
Residents can also attend a free Easter Community Day at Haxby Memorial Hall on Friday 3 April 2026. The day will include clay workshops and a market featuring work from young creators.
