Families in York can enjoy a variety of activities at Shambles Market this May half-term, as Make It York highlights the site as a key destination for holiday entertainment. The historic market, which is home to more than 70 independent traders, is hosting several events to draw visitors to the city centre.
From 20 May to 27 May, the market will host the Magical Owl Trail. During this period, ten owls will be hidden among the stalls for families to discover, with free trail cards available at the Visit York Visitor Information Centre.
The site will also host a Magical Night Market on Bank Holiday Monday, 25 May, from 7:30pm to 10pm. This evening event will feature around 40 independent traders, street food, and various performers under fairy lights.
These festivities coincide with the national Love Your Local Market campaign, which runs from 15 May to 30 May. Additionally, the market will serve as a venue for WizardFest between 23 May and 25 May, contributing to a wider programme of events across the city.
