York’s annual Community Carol Concert will return to the York Barbican on Sunday 13 December 2026, marking the 68th anniversary of the long-standing festive tradition. Residents are invited to attend the event from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, which continues a legacy first established in 1958 by local foundry worker Fred Bradbury.
The 2026 programme features performances by the York RI Golden Rail Band, the Huntington School Big Sing Choir, the Copmanthorpe Primary School Choir, soloist Alexandra Mather, and regular performer Steve Cassidy. Musical director Mike Pratt will lead the community singing, while the event will be co-hosted by the Reverend Andrew Foster and Adam Tomlinson.
Tickets for the concert are available at £10 for adults, while concessions and tickets for those under 14 are priced at £8. A family ticket, covering two adults and two children under the age of 14, can be purchased for £32. All proceeds from the afternoon will be donated to Age UK York and the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York’s Christmas Cheer Fund.
This event has remained a staple of the city’s calendar for over six decades, having only been cancelled once in its history due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. The ongoing success of the concert follows last year’s event, which raised £8,000 for local charities.
